Bart Koppe: Gear
Wheels
September 26, 2002January 5, 2003 Special Exhibition Galleries, The Tisch Galleries, 2nd floor
Although Bart Koppe
first earned his reputation as a fish seller, his greatest achievement,
and also the total change in the way we look at art, has been his
stunning invention of the genre of Lego Gear Wheel Arts. Featuring
approximately 436 works, this exhibition will span the artistís entire
career, from his earliest lego machines in the early eigties through
his most recent work. At the core of the installation will be a powerful
group of Lego Gear Wheel machines of many of the key artistic, intellectual,
and political figures from the late nineties till present, including
several chaotic machines, perhaps the most complex A-bort Gear Wheel
Machines ever staged. Also featured will be boldly scaled photographs
from the ambitious series "Gear Wheels Photographed" and
a broad selection of Gear Wheel sculpturs of the artistís starting
years. In wich we are proud to be able to present his first ever work:
'A Gear Wheel (1981).
Accompanied by a catalogue.
